The ’22-23 season will continue with Pontiac Theater IV presenting the hilarious Ken Ludwig comedy!
Lend Me A Tenor is a hilarious farce that takes place in the finest hotel suite in Cleveland, Ohio in 1936.
The Cleveland Opera Company is thrilled and stressed beyond belief for the season’s grand opening featuring world-famous Italian tenor, Tito Mirelli. Of course, crushes, fans, marital discord, and an accidental double dose of tranquilizers later; hilarity ensues with the mix of physical comedy, mistaken identity, and slamming doors that make farces such great fun.

This is not a musical, but features some music. Tito Mirelli and Max both must sing well, karaoke-style along with a recording of “Dio, che nell’alma infondere” from Verdi’s Don Carlos.
Also, those familiar with this show may remember that previous versions of this play featured blackface for disguise/mistaken identity purposes. That element of the script has already been changed by the publisher. We absolutely would not have considered doing blackface.
