On Thursday April 16, the Pontiac Theatre IV Board of Directors met via Messenger for our monthly Meeting. The main focus of the meeting was to determine how to proceed during the Covid-19 pandemic. We finished our last production Grease in March just before the limits on group size took effect. At that time we were also in rehearsal for The Lion King, Jr and had just announced dates for auditions for our July production of Macbeth. Both the rehearsals and auditions were immediately postponed by the board due to Governor Whitmer’s closing of the schools and stay at home order. It was determined a final decision for the 2019-20 season would be made after the Governor’s April 15th announcement about the schools.
Since the time of the initial announcements the severity of the pandemic had increased. The board had was fairly certain the schools would be closed for this year, and the stay at home order would be extended so we started to have discussions about what to do going forward. When we met on the 16th, it was decided that The Lion King, Jr would be tentatively scheduled for September and Macbeth would be scheduled for the November or December. This scheduling has pushed back our 2020-21 season. We will still be going forward with all of our shows for that season, although some may be pushed back to the 2021-22 season. The approved 2020-21 season includes The Pajama Game, The Children’s Hour, Shrek, Jr., The Outsiders and The Mind With a Dirty Man.
All of our scheduling going forward is tentative depending on the status of Covid-19.
